Came across this manifold - Two questions
1 Can anyone identify the year ( there was a column shift
steering column in the same picture)?
2 Do you think it would fit my 38 standard 8?

Phil, the 4 car lines in 1938 were The Six, The Eight, The Super Eight, and The Twelve. I assume what you mean by "standard eight" is the Eight, a/k/a the 120.

That manifold is from the 120 engine though I can't say from what year or for what years it interchanges. If it was associated with a column gearshift there's a good chance it's from a 1939 (or later) which was the first year that was offered.

The exhaust manifold is from a 41-120. It is NOT interchangeable with the 38 Eight (120) - there is no provision for the manifold mounted choke thermostat.
For certain. Been there, tried that, no worky.

Thanks for the info- my car right now has a manual choke via a cable to the dash, so other than the choke thing - would it fit?

kinda sorta almost. to what choke are you referring, are you referring to the original Throttle control, or have you bypassed the original choke thermostat? Two different functions - choke is air/fuel mix, and Throttle is basically idle control (or prehistoric cruise control...) Which carburetor are you running? this would definitely affect my further comment.

Will the manifold bolt up? yes.

The previous owner rigged up a cable to the choke mechanism as the original choke thermostat is gone the way of the dodo bird. I have the stock Stromberg EE 14

Then you will be no better off with this manifold, and further from any chance of returning to original. When properly adjusted, the original choke works fine.
