A while back I posted a picture of a 55 Packard. Today I met the owner. He tells me it's a Texas car he inherited with some other purchases, it hasn't run since "99. 352 4 bbl, non pushbutton auto, manual steering, interior is pretty good, all trim there. 93,000 mi. VIN 5522 4220, T/Proof 010099. $1000. Dan Kiebler 724 727 3043.

As a 55 of course it would be non-pushbutton, that feature was introduced for the 1956 models. Also should you be interested, the first character in the theft-proof is a "D", not an "0" - it takes a close observation as the dies were really worn, look for the sharper edges on the lefthand side of the character versus the right side.

This would be a Deluxe Clipper and would have originally been equipped with the smaller 320 cu. in. 225 b.h.p. engine. Probably has coil and leaf spring springs instead of the new for 1955 Torsion Level suspension (on the Custom Clippers and Packards). Does it have standard or Easamatic power brakes?

After I left, I thought about the brakes & suspension. I only guessed at the cubic inch displacement. One can always call the guy & ask. I'm still learning about the Packards.
