Has anyone ever pulled the wiper motor out of a Super 8?

If so how much trouble is it?

Looks like a spring loaded retaining clip holds linkage to the crank. (see photo) Do I just pull against the spring tension to remove?

Been a long time but IIRC, it is kind of like a keyhole arrangement. Believe the retainer fits in a groove on the pin. Pull gently against the spring to get the pin at the other side of retainer slot and pull out at the same time. There may be a wave washer or similar behind the retainer or the link piece so watch out for falling parts.

Thanks Howard,

it took me longer to fish it out of the dash then it did to disconnect it.

I spoke to the wiper man he said I basically got a core that cant be rebuilt. Anyone know where I can get a Trico SK-32-2?

Update,

I figured what have I got to lose? So I took it apart cleaned about 2 table spoons of gunk out of it. Clean everything and put it back together. hooked it to a vacuum source and it works great! Now to reinstall.

Sounds good but don't congratulate yourself until it has a load on it. Even a "dead" motor frequently goes like the blazes when unloaded but as soon as it has to provide some power then vacuum leaks around the paddle and very little if anything will happen. If it works when you get it back in then congrats are in order..

If the seals on the paddle are worn some grease will make it work a short time but temperature soon liquifies or thins the grease. Air is then able to leak around the seals from the other side and results in very little pressure differential to make anything move.
