I've noticed several 40 & 41 Packards have the head nuts painted. Am I correct to assume that Packard did not paint head nuts?

All Packard engines in that era and to the end were painted after the engine was assembled. Thus the head nuts should be engine color.

There is a great video on youtube called "Wishes on wheels" that gives a great overview of mid-fifties operations at the Plymouth plant. Packards after the classic era were assembled in a very similar fashion.

The Chrome/Stainless acorn head nuts are just car show bling, and are not correct/factory on the straight eight/six motors.
