That extra PW switch that came with the car does not work. It is probably one of those hydraulic-style switches. The pin pattern matches up but it is not built the same way at all.

I did locate a 53-57 Cadillac switch (no bezel) that matches the Packard switch. It's made by Delta Electic just like the Packard. I'll know more when it arrives.

I am currently researching ideas for my radio. It has been ages since I have messed around with a car radio and everything has changed. What have some of you done? I thinking of something Bluetooth w/FM radio but I am not committed to that.

The new PW master switch came in yesterday. One of the pins is slightly bent but so it is used. I can't complain though. Its movements are like new. I am lucky it was listed for a Caddy because it was about 55% less than the switches listed for Packard.

I gave it a quick test and it worked the regulator as it should.

Now I need to locate some compatible wire connections so I can connect it the right way. I could splice into the old wires but would prefer to replace the wires if I can find the right connectors in the second image.

I found a company online that makes these wire terminals but they only sold in bulk.

I doubt I could ever sell the remaining 55,992 of them.

I'll just see if I can salvage these original connections off the old wires. Better yet, I will probably just splice my new wires into the originals.

YnZ’s Yesterdays Parts makes the power window connector and can even supply the complete power window harness ready to go. These pieces may not be on their site so give them a call of an email as they have excellent support.

I saw the terminals on the Digikey website but the whole site was very confusing and a little misleading so I passed on it.

I did send a picture to YnZ Yesterday folks this morning. The new terminal and connector body are already being shipped to me. Thanks for that info.

FYI: Since I updated the motors in my power windows the wiring is all different. I believe all I need for each motor is one wire for power and then ground each side of the switch to the inside of the door. It cuts down on some of the wiring.

Be interested in seeing your wiring diagram. Am all open to simplifying any extra wiring. One advantage and reason I used the relays is to have a higher current capacity so all the motor current is not going thru the switch. Another is to enable a built in braking function typical of permanent magnet motors when the leads to still spinning armature coils are connected together as power is removed.

That braking feature is probably not that applicable in normal window use since the switch is not as likely to be released in mid travel as it is after the window hits a stop. If that braking feature goes away it probably won't be noticed.

Howard.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

But the relays. Are for up. And down

Need to reverse a permanent magent motor.

Besides the current load.
