Thanks for the link.

Yes your welcome to stop by also but bring some sanding gear thou

They are making us take a week Furlough. But that is okay with me since it will give me an extra week coming this May or June (depends on when I take it) to work on Old Bessie.

mike, it's factory! it is actualy a 301 cid. it was an ag engine. strictly for use in allis-chalmers combines! the story goes that the truck was special ordered that way by the first owner who was a farmer. i have had several people tell me at work to run the casting numbers. there is a casting number, right where it should be. only thing is it reads 301X ! thats the only number on it anywhere!

(Below is a pic of me looking under a 1936 Pierce Arrow 12 parked at the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum.)

Thanx much 120 and Tom! No, I'm not a member of any
Packard clubs, and I wasn't aware of any in
the Chicago area. I live in the Lakeview neighborhood.
I don't have a Packard, I've only driven my friends
55' Patrician (GOBS of torque!). I hope to SOME day
own a 1934-39 Twelve (hey, we can all dream!)

A list of cars that I've owned are;

1979 Buick Limited
1976 Buick Limited
1992 Buick Roadmaster Limited
1987 Cadillac Fleetwood Broagham
1986 Buick LeSabre Estate Wagon
2004 Mercedes Benz E55 (that I'm currently selling!)

My list of DREAM cars;

1934 Packard Twelve Boattail Speedster (ha! never gonna afford one!)
1958 Buick Limited
2010 Rolls Royce Phantom EWB (forgive me for those who are not fans of the Rolls!)

Roman,

Yes I go to the Oakbrook father's day show. I try to drive my car there but I haven't entered it in the show.

BTW: You don't have to own a Packard to be a member of POC. All you have to have is a love for the vehicle. I invite you to attend some of the meetings and events. Meetings are usually in Des Plaines. Ask your buddy with the Patrician also.

We have the same taste. I have been lusting for a Twelve forever. I'd like a 1937 club sedan or formal sedan. If you see one at a reasonable price let me know

Hey 120! Thanx for the info!

My friend Ken lives in Rockford with
his Patrician....he doesn't get to
Chicago much, rarely drives his Packard
out of Rockford. I'll ask him tho!

I'd love to learn more about POC!!
I love the twelves....I saw a red 34' Detrich
Victoria at the Oakbrook center on Fathers
Day that I fell in love with 2 years ago!
Amazing car. Personally I think the 12's
were superior to Cadillacs 12's and 16's.

At any rate, I'd love to meet some of the
local Packard guys!

Thanx much!

Hey Tom, sounds kool....what year/model do you have?

There was a (1930's) Packard Eight last year at the Fathers
day show.....the owner started it up and it ran
sooooo smooooooth. That engine musta been idling at
400-500 rpm...smooth as silk.

If the engine idle was set by the book it would have been idling at 375 RPM. It is amazing how these Packards (and other cars of the era) can idle so smoothly at such low rpm.

Either way, it was running very smoothly, very quiet, and very low (rpm).
