Hi Guys,

I'm now replacing my master cylinder. With the remanufactured item, the brass fitting for the lines may no longer have the right orientation. It seems frozen. To rotate it it, is the brass threaded and we need to use washers? Or its not threaded and I need to bang on it a little.

Just don't want to use force if not appropriate.

Regards,
Rich

According to parts manuals LHD 120s thru some 21st series used the same 302702 brass outlet fitting. That's a fitting with a special hollow bolt thru the middle holding it in place and providing the fluid passage. There is a copper washer or gasket on either side of the fitting to seal against the cylinder and bolt head. Here is an illustration from the 21st series manual of the layout.

You can loosen the bolt and turn the fitting as needed but there's a chance the washers may not seal properly again when that is done. If new ones are needed you can probably match them but for size reference, the first column is ID, second is OD and third is thickness of the copper washers.

Thank you Howard!

Mine came off with the bolt, I guess I'll give it a little persuasion.

Rich

Worked like a charm. Just like you stated, no threads in the brass.

Thanks!
Rich
