Great day at Greenwich today, gorgeous weather (brilliant blue sky, about 92 deg. F, constant breeze off Long Island Sound) and lot's of superb cars. Still sorting thru about 100 photos, for a sampling of photos, see:

Is that silver Cadillac convertible sedan a 35 or a 36 with a v12?

It's a 1936, and a V8, not a V12. Coachwork tag is Fleetwood. Owner is Andrew Benenson. I took several other photos of it, I'll add one here.

There were so many interesting cars it's hard to know where to stop posting photos. Another interesting car was this 1949 Cadillac by Coachcraft, from the Marano Collection. And a very nice 1953 Hudson club coupe owned by Lou Freda. In the background you can just see the stern of one of 2 1953 Buick Skylarks.

Although I'm not enamored of most RR coachwork I thought this Springfield (LHD) Newmarket in the Bonham's auction tents was a very attractive Rolls, conservative but yet a bit of flair and worth a picture.

1914 Locomobile "48" speedster. Note the period Westinghouse air shocks, not so much a shock absorber as a device providing an air cushion for the front of the front of the suspension.

1930 Packard coupe in the Bonham's auction tent.

Early Pierce-Arrow in the Bonham's auction tent. That's "JHH", an occasional correspondent on these pages, standing behind the car.

Gusha - the Pierce is a 1919 Model 31 - no info on the headlight lenses. The Packard coupe is a 733, estimate was $45-$55,000. Estimate for the Pierce was $140-160,000. Estimate for the Brewster/Springfield Rolls Newmarket was $200-$240,000.

The pinstripe rims ennoble the Packard. Are the headlamp lens of the Pierce-Arrow made of crystal glass?

Nice MGA coupe behind the 30 Packard.

The Locomobile has always been one of my favorite cars ... extraordinary craftsmanship. The Pierce-Arrow is also a beauty, but if I had the dough, I'd take the Rolls-Royce, which is pretty unusual for me since I generally don't think a lot of them as a rule.

If you park a 1938 Packard Twelve formal sedan next to a 1938 Rolls-Royce, there will be no doubt as to which car is of superior quality.
