Just out of curiosity is there any kind of sealing item between the governor body and OD case. It just threads in but I don't see any kind of gasket listed or evidence of anything used in the past. I could be staring at something that became separated and not recognize it or maybe it's listed in a different category in manual.

A gasket is listed between contact bottom and governor housing but nothing between governor and trans. Just seems strange to have two flat surfaces coming together without some kind of fiber circle or O ring.

Howard,
It looks like there are 2 gaskets associated with the governor, perhaps.
4.2233 and 3.4456
I will look tonight to see if I can see a gasket between the gov and the housing.

Appreciate your looking. The 4.2233 is the solenoid and I made a couple for that application.

The 3.4456 doesn't appear in the 47 manual but the same part number gasket is listed under 3.293 and is labeled as between governor switch and cover. I think that one is the thin paper gasket between the bakelite switch end and metal housing. Don't see any others mentioned under governor assy.

There's no gasket used between the governor and the overdrive case and it doesn't seem to be prone to leaking.
