Awesome I will check for interior lighting was this an option as well? I was wondering if it were a dummy switch like the o/d . I was assuming the light was center mounted on the ceiling between the headliner, is it somewhere else or was mine covered during reupholstery? I could not find the rear courtesy lights anywhere. No lights when doors open and none at the switch either

Depends on the model on the light. On some of the lower end models, just about everything was an option. Since there is a switch, you should probably have one. The door switches might not be there as some models only had the pillar switch. If you have those, they are plunger switches screwed to the door hinge pillar about midway down. Unless you have a Custom Eight, believe the light would be centered on the rear window and about 4-5 inches above it.

You might download the 48 fact bookhttps://www.packardinfo.com/xoops/html/downloads/1948_FactBook.pdf and give it a look thru. Is yours a 22nd series 49 with the rectangular tail lights or a 23rd series with the oval. There are a few differences but checking out the 22nd series 48 book will still give a fair idea on how things were done in the 23rd.
