How do you remove the dash section containing all the guages? Tried looking behind, but with so many wires, etc.it was impossible to see. I need to remove the speedometer to clean and lubricate it. Have already done the cable. Thanks in advance.

Speedo comes out as an assembly held by 3 screws on a sort of triangle pattern. One on each side at the top which are on an extension of the assembly and slightly set in toward the driver. Those are screwed into the pot metal chrome housing. One at the bottom which is screwed into the dash and instrument side panel.

Once the lamps are clear of the speedo assy and & trip set cable (if you have one) is unconnected from dash edge, remove those 3 screws and the entire unit will come out for further disassembly. The rest of the dash and instruments stay untouched.

If you just want to oil the input bushing, the oil hole is in that small casting at the 9:00 position. If is sort of recessed into the case and may be hard to see or reach. To remove the entire speedo from the housing, the front bezel holding the glass has to be uncrimped and removed. Once bezel and glass are clear the two screws at the rear of the housing (and possibly the nut holding the trip cable) are removed and the speedo assy pulls out from the front.
