Does anyone know of a modern replacement for the 55 Patrician gas tank tank sending unit.

Turbopackman first mentioned a 57-60 Ford & TBird unit that was drop in but I've come to find out from some who bought them there are apparently different arm lengths for different size tanks. Not sure which is the correct drop in unit now.

The ohm range is the same 80-10 +/- and the mounting ring on the Ford units are the same as Packard but if you happen to get the one with a shorter length arm, it has to be lengthened and adjusted to match your old swing.

Universal senders with the ohm range of 80 empty, 10 full are also available and can be adjusted to accommodate different tank depths but again requires some work on the arm and the mounting is usually screws instead of the ring so you need to adapt something there.

Kanter now offers a proper repro sender at around $100. The Ford is around $70 and universal is $40-50 so maybe worth paying the extra for a no work needed drop in unit.

Hubby found reproduction on ebay for $39. It's on there from time to time. He also says 1951-54 works on a '55. As does the 58-59 Ford.
