what seal is this ,came out of nos box, had plastic impeller, yes ,,had,,,

also this shaft is shorter than mine, by about 3/16ths.,,should of shipped it ,off, what is 20 on end of shaft.

but ,,but ,,t&m, which its costing me for another impeller,,now,

but also want to use a stainless shaft,

breaking impellers, i know where i blew it, i wsa trying to save seal for ref.. if i would of cut it out i could of put a block under center of impeller,

what broke my cast, is that i used a hf, bearing separator, to try to get bearing off, well i bent one half, i didn;t see it, starting jacking pop,,,,,,

also that bearing is on there, even getting under the center with a block with 5/8 hole supporting the whole bearing it would not budge... that i will take to shop,,,,,

for the impeller, ,there is a foundary out here i can get the impeller cast in brass or alum..

some of you know,, but i found out today, the water pump bearing and shaft are one, the parts place had two pumps, one packard, the other golden hawk, both cast impellers. ,, but one had a shaft boot legged, cause it was short on impeller side,

i think water pump bearings used now for packard, are random, in lenght, my pump that came off of car you could see where shaft was cut,

so now its off to find a bearing reference chart, so my plan to use stainlees is out, unless i check a marine repair place,

the auto parts place did have a steel impeller too, no idea what car, it was on the water pump, but turned in,

but when i find a plastic impeller, i am going to get these cast in brass,, think alum, will give up..

for any new and up and comming ,, DIY ers,,,,,,,,

the 1/4 inch horse does not let pressure get to outside edge, all pressure is on center of impeller, need to cut out seal, which is a job,,dremel, does it,

if you didn't want shaft, you could it too,,

flaring tool work great for holding things to press out, i get a pipe inside dia. close to what i am pressing out,

also see henrys blog, 102,ish, he does excellent work,,

Good work, Riki. We can live with the minor length differences. Where are they available and for how much?

56 clipper,

with that washer looking thing it would seal real good, but no room for it, crushed my new seal,

i guess if milled the impeller , but more work,

will wait till new seal comes,

that is mc kay water pump grease,,, 30 ,,40 years old, maybe older

Told you not to use that washer. Uh hmmmm. If you look at the backside of the impeller it already has a flat surface for the seal. If you milled the impeller to put in that washer it came with you would just be creating unnecessary work for yourself.

Most modern antifreeze has pump lubricant in it already...... No harm in the grease though I guess.
