I've learned that the 1938 Super 8 cylinder blocks have a tendency to crack, for whatever reason. 1937's are OK and the 1939's fine. Just the '38's.
I've heard and seen that alot of '38 blocks out there are cracked or, if driven alot these days, probably will crack in time.
Does this tendency to crack apply to the 1938 Twelve engines as well? Or is it only the Super 8's with that manufacturing defect?

Other than from neglect to maintain adequate anti freeze, not sure I've ever heard of a cracked Twelve block.

I've built and own a number of Twelves and Su8s over the years. Fortunately, none had cracks, even some nasty rusted junkyard blocks. Never did any 1938s, though. David
