243 fan belt needed

Hi, I have a very late 243 (May 1926) with a very old fan belt that is now slipping, should be replaced. So far I can't find one, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

One odd note; the car is so late in 243 production it actually has the windshield of the 343 (single instead of double piece).

Thanks,

Ron

A somewhat dated catalog gives Dayco 22385 as the #, perhaps you can get an interchange to this number from your local parts store. Also I'll ask a friend who has several 2nd series Eights.

Owen,

That appears to be a still fairly popular belt still in production by Dayco, available from numerous sources. I'll probably get it from Advanced Auto Parts (mail) once you can confirm it.

Thanks! The car does not get out nearly enough; one thing after another. Clogged up fuel system was the most recent. Could use lots of new wiring but it is a real pleasure to drive and even look at and listen too.

The correct belt is available from NAPA as their B34 50.

When I search for it on the NAPA web site, about all I get is confusion, nothing that shows or confirms that part number. Is it the same belt / equal to the Dayco? I even found a chart saying that the 22385 was used for many vehicles including 1926 Packards.

I can't assure you from personal experience that the Dayco listing is correct. All I can assure you of is the NAPA belt is a correct fit on a 2nd Series Eight. Not much at risk here, if you buy the Dayco belt and it doesn't fit, then return it. Or go to a NAPA store and order their belt. In either case let us know the outcome. What I like about the NAPA belt as opposed to the Dayco is its authentic "of the era" appearance.

Once you find the correct belt, please put it in the Part X-Ref for future reference and to help the next guy out!

I will get back on here. Problem is that NAPA no longer sells this belt; local NAPA dealer tells me to cut off the old one and bring it in for a matchup (ow). I ordered one instead from ebay, only source I could find for sure, supposedly they have all of 2 in stock. I ought to have it in a week or so. Now it would be nice to check it against the DAYCO somehow just in case NAPA's are now going to be all gone.
