Had both bumpers off the car for a long time. Got it repainted and put the bumpers back on. But now I am wondering if I put them on correctly. One bumper had the word "Packard" on the bumper and "160" on the bumper guard round horiz piece. I mounted the bumper with the Packard name on the rear. Is that correct or did I put them on wrong.

The "Packard" script is on the rear. The round bar with "160" is on the front

Wow I don't know how that got switched since the bumpers were together when I took the bumpers off and put back the same way. The 160 bar must have got switched before I purchased the auto. I have the scripted bumper with the 160 bar on the same bumper. Your sure that is correct I presume.
Thanks/Lee
p.s. Am going to change as per your info. Thanks

Here's a picture of a correct front bumper (it's another owner in the Registry section)...

Ummmm.... I hate to break the news to you, but the front bumper shown on that BLUE car in that photo were incorrectly restored.

All the painted areas on the chrome (EXCEPT for the red hex) should be in black. Same goes for the rear bumper - NOT red, but black.

Also, from the dark color of the car I cannot tell in the vertical areas in the two, side grilles is painted black or body color. It should be body color.

Finally you need to contact Kanter and get the correct hubcaps for the car before they run out and are NLA. The correct hubcaps are stamped with have "Packard - 160 Packard - 160" in a circle.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the pictures but they are for a '41 and mine is a '42 and only has one bar not three. Are there any pictures of a '42 with a single bar that you can send?

same bumpers on 41 and non-Clipper 42

Roger's car has the optional grille guard with 3 bars - the one lower bar with the "160" is the standard set up. His comments on black and red paint still apply
