Hi Simon

I can't add to the engine year identification but the fenders are from a 1931-'32 Chrysler Custom Imperial Model CG. Lightening the detail shows it has independent suspension. Along with the '32 Light Eight 900 radiator shell and headlights and support part unknown source, it appears to be a bitsa.

Good luck with your new acquisition.

Steve

Proud 1953 Clipper Deluxe owner. Thinking about my next Packard, want a Clipper Deluxe Eight, manual shift with overdrive.

A "Bitsa" it is then, mind you, since I bought it in Germany then maybe a "Blitza" would be a more appropriate name ;)

I'll assume you found the engine photo from the For Sale advert online, bit confused though, surely the engine number clearly stamped on the block is the truly identifying aspect to it's year or could it have been married to a later top end?

The motor shown in post #10 of this thread is a 1937 or later 320 cubic inch engine. Several identifying features but the most obvious is that the generator is no longer driven by the timing chain on the manifold side of the engine.

The engine is from a '39 Super 8 320 cu in. The canted block surface where the manifolds are appears only on 31-39 Seniors and the '30 Speedster.
The round choke housing on the exhaust manifold is '35 or so up, the road breather tube from the valve cover is '39 only.

Hi All

I've taken delivery of the car now and took pictures of the oil pan and diff, pretty much confirms the 1937 engine but would be interested in knowing if the diff numbers relate.

Might be a few photos to follow.

Cheers
Simon

The large valve on the intake manifold just behind the carburetor is a vacuum valve for power brakes as used on senior 8's 33-36. 37-9 Super 8's did not have power brakes. A photo of the driver's side of the engine would help confirm year/years. There are mixed clues as to the year.
