This is more about sharing a source for having sand casting done at what I think is a reasonable price. Off and on for the last 3 or 4 years or so I've tried to locate a bumper guard for my '32 901 without success. So I decided that I would try to make a pattern and get 2 made of brass.
I used Plaster of Paris to make a reverse copy of the guard's body. I then used PC7 2 part epoxy to make a copy of the main body (I made two copies). After shopping around for about a week I found a shop in Chicago (Meskan Foundry) that would take the two patterns a make a brass copy of both for $100. I'm happy with the quality and the turnaround time (about 2 weeks, which includes shipping time both ways) To finish off the project, I turned ?" piece of brass rod with 13 threads/in. that was about 2" long. I then turned about ?" one end down to ?" and threaded it with NF die. I drilled and threaded a hole through the brass body ?-28. The rod was screwed into the hole and brazed in place.
