Electrical re-wiring question on 533

I have several lights I am trying to get working on my 533.

I look at the wiring diagram below and it indicates that the circuit breaker relay and all other devices (except for the starter circuit) are powered off of the generator and that it is plus(+) DC volts.

Plus (+) is chassis ground as well.

All of my years of electrical training tell me I need a + and - to have a device work.

If i look at the cigar lighter, I should have a + and - voltage to work correctly but I get a + VDC from the circuit breaker and a + chassis ground.

What am I missing???

I believe part of the confusion may be the way they labeled the ammeter terminals. The + side terminal of the ammeter is indicated, not the actual polarity of the line. Pos ground is still provided at the battery and the neg battery terminal goes into the ammeter (which is essentially a straight wire as far as the hookup) on the negative terminal and comes out to join the generator circuit and into the circuit breaker to provide the negative voltage battery lead to everything. The labeling of the ammeter terminals is a way to ensure the ammeter is hooked up so it doesn't read backwards.
