Went into a pep boys I have been going to since riding my bike.

Half the store gone. They are selling everything.

That is sort of interesting, because here Carquest closed up and was replaced by Advanced Auto. Now we have 3 Advanced Autos all within a stones throw of each other....

I don't believe PepBoys is actually gone. If you read the press releases, it seems they are leasing *some* of their parts only stores to Advance Auto/CarQuest. The Pep Boys services centers remain open...

The tire center I think are staying. Not sure if they are pep boys. Or not. According to employees. If they want to stay they need to reapply .. Tire center I guess is different. For now.

However one wants to look at it. Advance auto or Carquest.

Who bought who....

I was not big fan of PepBoys Advance Oriely seemed to have high prices if you register and shop and wait to check out they usually send a 20 % off offer. Really prefer NAPA as they have good deals usually on weekend if you order on line and have free shipping to home. During peak of plague I ordered on line and would go to store call and they would bring parts out and put into trunk thus no personal contact. My local NAPA has some older people who understand that all cars are not chevy or ford. When looking for items like belts and hoses give them size they can use info to get a part that fits.

I use an independent place that stays open by virtue of doing a lot business with the railroad and car shops.

However, keeping a clunker on the road doesn't make economic sense so I bought a new car.
