Front drive shaft. Joint.

Took the cover off .. And a thick oil was in there...

Anyone have any clues. I would say its was done in the 70s.

The book said to put grease in there. ..

No pictures yet. Put it back together. If its should come out will do it...

And have picture..

I would think oil in there would get an off balance..

For Ultramatic the front joint would be a ball and trunnion which would originally have used a heavy fibre grease. I don't know what the best modern replacement grease would be, many I know use a premium wheel bearing grease and seem to have no problems. Take good care of that joint, for the senior cars with Ultramatic replacements are close to extinct.

Yes we are. This goes to a 56 carib.

I put lubriplate molly tacky in mine. It was for CV joints.

Thing is a wasted good lubriplate added some to it. Oil.

But going to clean all of that out.

The joint looks good.. But getting that black oil out might show other things.

That oil was flinging out .. All over rear u joint...
