8th series steering box oil level

Intuition tells me to fill the steering box so that the worm gear is covered, but I'd thought I'd check to see if there was any risk of overfilling. Thanks!

As you concluded, enough to cover the sliding/friction surfaces is all that's needed. I can't see any risk from a little overfilling, it's all open to the atmosphere so you can't pressurize it.
