The product is called Nu Vinyl, by Reed-Union Corp. Billed as a protectant, it is NOT at all like any of the slippery/shiny/slimy stuff that you may have used in the past. In fact, it dries to a "natural" finish. Nu Vinyl also contains plasticizers to help restore flexibility to the vinyl.

I first learned of this product, decades ago, when someone showed me how pliable it made the hard, old seat cover on their motorcycle.

Nu Vinyl used to be widely available on the shelf at many mass-market retail auto stores/deparments, but I haven't been able to find it locally in recent years - had to order online. I used to get the 10 oz. bottle, but now use the 16 oz. trigger spray.

Mind you, I have yet to try this on any of my Packards. However, it made the molded dash cover on my Cosworth Vega pliable enough that I was able to carefully massage a decades-old dent out of the "brow" just above the gauge cluster, without cracking the material.
