Yeah it didn't occur to me that the wrong tires could be on the car.

According to this interchange:

Coker Tire Size Cross Reference/Interchange

P 235/75R15 interchange with 8.00-15 tires, which is what I have on my Cavalier IIRC.

8.20-15 tires should be even wider I think, so I would worry about that

According to the Packard Model Info on this website, you should have 7.00-15 tires on that car.

Packard Model Info, 1941 120 Convertible Coupe

The closest interchange Coker lists is 7.10-15, which would be 215/75 R15, considerably narrower.

Jerome:
I talked to both DB and Coker today. The nomenclature for the true modern vs modern like is a bit different. Smaller section width is better...

A 800r15 has a section width of ~8.0"
A 820r15 has a section width of ~8.2"
A 235/75r15 has a section width of ~9.4"

So, if I go with a 800r15 the tire height increases by just .5"; that will give me a narrower bulge width of ~1.4" (side to side) or ~.7" further away from the tie rod.

Looks like the 8x0 series is the way to go.

Thanks again for all of the input!

Gar

Highly recommend DB's bias ply looking tubeless radial tires.
