Thank you very much for this technical note, I was not aware of that, I will have to reconsider it.

If you do find you need to use the fiber bushings/washers and don't want to make them Max Merritt has a kit. You being in another country though it would probably be easier and with the price of freight, much cheaper to make them.

Thank you for your help. I have a Packard 1953 Clipper Touring Sedan, Model Chassis 2601, Made for Canada.

Packard Vehicle Registry

Unfortunately, I didn't find any markings on the body of the carburetor. So it's probably the carburetor CARTER WGD-784S.

Yes, you're right. Considering the time and cost, I will have to make them yourself.

There is a Carter page listing specs and the first 10 pages of the fuel and exhaust section of the 51-4 service manual covers rebuilding of the WGD-784S.

Chicago carb has free instructions for most popular carbs of the day, though not this model.

'55 400. Needs aesthetic parts put back on, and electrical system sorted.
'55 Clipper Deluxe. Engine is stuck-ish.

The model would have originally been stamped onto a small triangular aluminum label that attached through a hole to one of the upper cover bolts. It that is gone, you’ll need to take it apart to measure the pins and seats to determine which it is. It was not uncommon that through the years the unit was replaced with one from a totally different make so lots of variables to consider! Once you learn that it is the proper unit and that it has all the updates, then you can proceed with adjustments.

The pump has been removed, and the bronze inserts have been replaced with pertinax (which does not conduct heat). The screws have been tightened to 30 ft-lb (41 Nm). The screw heads have been wire locked.
Thank you very much for the valuable advice.

The label is damaged and screwed on backward, but it can still be read as 84S. Therefore, I assume that the carburetor is indeed a CARTER WGD-784S.
