I broke down and got some new corner hood pads recently to minimize ongoing damage. The rubber on the originals were all gone, with only the metal and "grommet/rivet" mostly there (no rounded head like the other pads). Any tips on where to find replacements?

I have the corner pads from them just not the replacement fastener. I have somewhat tried to see if I can salvage the original but it's not working out well to extract from the metal plate (can't tell if it was more of one piece or just being stubborn).

Can someone share what they've seen on their car or others as it relates to the side the hood pad should be located? My rear hood pads the large rubber side is on the inner side with only edge rubber coming slightly up the exterior. While I would assume the front would be the same, what has me questioning that assumption is the fact that while my rubber was gone on the front, the metal plate (and rivet without the head) was on the outside (you can see the scratches from it sliding around in the pic). So, should it be on the inside like the rear or was the front pad over both originally?
