There has been a bit of chatter about installing some modern conveniences in our cars so I thought I would put forth an update in my 37.
There is a nice bit of open floor space between the shifter and the front of the seat. It being an open car we enjoy using water bottles to keep our hydration up. So I decided to make a removable console. I created a double tube layout with a snack bin in plywood, lined the tubes and bins with the card stock used in the door panels as well as the outside perimeter, using my pneumatic stapler to attach the card forms to the plywood base and top, then upholstered them with the same material I did the rest of the interior. (This will need to be modified in the newer cars with a transmission hump as it will need to sling over that,) but leave it as a set-in piece and can be removed for judging and cleaning. Oh, I lined the bottom of the bins with rubber sheet so the condensation does not soak the cloth.
