FWIW according to Chilton's, the fan belt for a 1947 2103, 06, 26 has the following specs (inches):

V Angle:... 42
Length OC. 52 11/16
Width Max. 1 1/32

The Bathtub series (48-50) Custom 8 specs are different (which surprised me):

V Angle:... 42
Length OC. 54
Width Max. 1 1/16

Thanks JD in KC, now it is getting more confusing. I got a Gates TR 30537 belt from O'Rilley's but have not fit it to the car as the water pump is off and the pulley is off of the water pump. I think it is going to be too long. I may need a longer generator adjusting bracket. I'll let everyone know when I get it back together (probably in the next couple of days).

John, It would surprise me if it didn't fit. I am sure my car is totally stock and the bracket and pulleys are original and the belt fits fine. I have a spare bracket if you need one.

Dave, thanks for the offer. I'll measure the bracket on my car to compare to the one you have. The belt that was on the car when I got it was so short that I had to cut it in order to remove it (as covered in an earlier part of this thread). So, I am suspicious of bracket length being right. I should know tomorrow.

I am at the stage of the project to start fastening the engine to all the parts I removed. I have the radiator and its cradle screwed together. I will install them as a unit rather than separately as I did during disassembly. I back-flushed the engine and heaters today. Only clean liquid was expelled.

Incidentally, I am taking many photos as I start the work on going through all the systems for a possible blog.

Isn't this fun!?

Did you get the trunk light installed?

John, Yes trunk light installed and working fine. I will be interested in what size bracket you have? I found that intsalling the rad to the bracket and installing as a unit woks bet although you should probably get someone to help as these units are heavy. Keep me(us) posted.

Tomorrow turned into a week. I finally got the water pump installed on the engine yesterday and then tried to install the new Gates belt. It was too long. I need a longer (about 2 inches) generator adjusting strap to use the Gates belt. The NAPA belt fits, just. However it is narrower than the correct width. It works, but I should have the correct belt. Here are photos of this. Any help with a longer strap is appreciated. Thank you.
