All the more reason to donate what and when you can to the Proving Grounds, the sole Packard corporate site in hobby ownership undergoing active restoration and preservation for use by the hobby, and becoming a major repository of Packard factory records & artifacts.

Owen, amen and amen! The proving grounds site will become the small patch of earth connected to what once was the Packard Motor Car Company in the Detroit area. And it needs support now more than ever.
Should someone decide to manufacture a green car in Detroit, that runs on butterfly farts and rainbows and expels lavender perfume , I'm pretty sure they are going to want a single floor operation, just as Packard wanted to replace the East Grand Boulevard plant in the mid 1950s.

Wow, they're very emotive pictures, especially the Hudson smokestack toppling. And it's almost the 'ghosts of Packards past' in the other photo, with a long sort of sombre alleyway to reflect on. Glad you loaded those pics . . .

I guess the old Packard plant could go out with a bang or just rust away peacefully. Either way is very sad. But IF the movie credits list it properly then that is a moment of glory and a kind of memorial to it. There'll still be a plant there after the movie, but it will have a few extra holes in it.
