Vintage Packard Service Sign

For years there's been a line of rusted metal in my yard and I decided to dig it up. While doing so, I noticed that it was a sign-- a double-sided sign that reads "Packard Service." I did a little research and found out that's it's a rare sign and if restored could be quite valuable. With that said, if you know anything about the sign, please let me know. Ultimately, I'm interested in selling it and would love to know it's value -- "as is" and restored.

Thank you!
John

If you restore it, in my opinion it's not worth much more than a replica. I'd leave it as is. Ebay will certainly give you an excellent idea of its value.

They are reproducing these signs. I have this one on my wall. The problem is that 1/8 of that sign is rusted away. So by the time the metal was fixed and the porcelain redone....it not really an original sign anymore.

Bill,

I found it listed on eBay about a year or two ago. It's made of pressboard or masonite, and I paid like $40 for it. Great for the garage, but I wouldnt hang it outside!

That said, I have seen the larger metal ones reproduced also.

I believe I remember someone posting at one time that Don Summers had the original style metal signs reproduced.

Kev, it was Don Sommer at American Arrow corp. in Clawson, MI. Not sure if he still makes them.
