In a series of comments Dave (Owen) informed us about ZIS's in USA. Two year ago he reported on a blue/grey convertible, at those days located in his area and sold to a foreign country. As always he knew whereof he spoke. This photograph, published 2008/8/15 shows him sitting in the back seat of that very car.




Longtime members may will remember that we used that car as an instance to talk about the exchangeability of Soviet-made plastic parts.

Now Kennedy Space Center, your nation's gateway to exploring, discovering and understanding our universe reported that the blue/grey convertible arrived save and sound Moscow after touch down in Scandinavia.
At the moment the experts analyze the accessible data for a medium-range forecast of its next orbital flight. Some few Soviet cars showed more or less similar flight characteristics.

Nobody knows the second ...

Who was that man, meeting President Kennedy and John Glenn in 1962?



His name was Titov, Gherman Titov, the second man to orbit the Earth, with 25 years the youngest spaceman ever (and with 26 years a heavy drinker).

In a few days ends the era of the space shuttles. After the Atlantis returned home safe and sound I would like to demount a couple of heat shields for Howard (HH56) and all the other boys in his neck of the woods. Almost 100 degree F is way too much to really enjoy the life, at least for me.
I'm hopefull that the following picture has a cooling effect.

NOOOO thank you. When there is snow on the ground & still coming down and it's cold enough something big like that is even protesting, then I know my place & that isn't it. Hibernation time is way before snow. I do have to give the poor thing a "well done" for all the effort though. Won't be suffering with heat here too much longer -- weather widget shows we have a cold wave coming--down to 90 next week.
