Does anyone have an idea why they would produce a pan (6484521) with no dipstick/filler provision

Mismarked? Looks like a pan from prior to the adoption of the Gear-start/Twin Ultra (49 thru mid-54) where the filler neck and dipstick were incorporated into the trans body casting and not the pan.

Note the cut-out or recess of the flange on the left side of pic. Did PRE 55 or 56 have such a stamped cut-out too??? I don;t know.

I'm pretty sure my 50 has a cutout on the flange and for sure has the dipstick in the body of the trans, no provision in the pan. I forget what the cutout was for, but i think it was linkage that would be rubbing right there. I thought someone had modded it.

If these are just plain regular ultra pans and you have a stack, they'd be good ones to modify for a normal dipstick setup!

I realize it is not in the Packard parts book that's why I am asking I do not have 500 but I do have a few. 56J part # is 6480501 American motors is 6471053. It is 56 only 20 bolt holes and has the flat area to install the fill tube for the 56J
