Dear All,

What do the correct side rear-view mirrors look like for the 38 Eight (1601) enclosed cars without side mounts?

Right now Laurie's car has door mounted side mirrors from a 51 or so car.

Thanks,

Tom

This particular accessory book which I have labeled as 38 only shows two mirrors--this clamp on style and then the sidemount type. Interestingly, the book has no year mentioned--just a picture of a chrome license plate frame accessory with a 38 plate mounted. The 38 sales brochure I have for the 6 and 8's show no mirrors either. Guess they were not a big deal then -- on the smaller cars at least. Maybe an earlier style was carried forward--although two in the 37 120 book appear to be the same and then one more in that book similar but mounted to windshield post for convertibles.

Howard,

Thanks tons for that. I saw the 37 accessory book here on PInfo.

I also looked through all the 38 photos at the MMM archive, and found no cars pictured that had rear view outside mirrors unless they had the side mounts.

And I can tell you that the mirrors on the side mounts really don't provide much of a rear view!

Again, thanks for the info.

Tom
