New tires on my 56 400

I just put new Diamondback tires on my 1956 400 yesterday. I had the wheels sandblasted and powder coated. They matched the color well and they now look great. I took the car for a long drive and what a difference from my 12 year old tires. The real bonus is that the sidewalls are white, I could never keep the previous tires staying anywhere near white.

Joel,

Very nice. I especially like the wire wheel covers. I think if I had the car I would be tempted to paint the inner part of the wheel black so as to further the impression of wire wheels, but that is just me. What brand and size of tires did Diamondback use to make your WWWs?

They are Cooper 235/75R 15s. I wanted the dark green on the wheels that the car came with. I put these wheelcovers away 25-30 years ago and thought I better use them while I can.

The car will be on display at the "Motor Muster" at Greenfield Village next weekend and I wanted to get the tires and wheels on before then.

Looks great Joel. As a hint to keeping them clean as Diamondback doesn't like any of the bleach products.
Use Mr. Clean Magic eraser pads - they do a good job and leave no residue. My daughter taught me this.

Does it ride better? Assume you were belted before....

IMHO radials make all the difference.....

When two men ride the same horse, one has to be in the back...
