i still fighting some overheating problem when stop in traffic on hot days. I saw a 31 Packard two weekends ago, and it seemed to be blow a lot my air at idle. According to the parts book, his fan should be identical to mine but they were slightly different. Both were 6 blade fans. Also his sat less than a 1/2" from the radiator while mine is ~1".

Can someone post a picture of a 1932 big eight fan and also measure the distance to the radiator?

Perhaps you are missing a spacer of some kind. The closer to the core the more air pulls through it. Also are you sure it's not on backwards? It's center section maybe offset and if it was on backwards it may be sitting further back than it is supposed to be from the core.

It's not on backwards. Don't know of any missing spacer.here are the picture of mine (gold car) and the 31 Phaeton. Both are big eights which should have the same fan. I'm actually going to see a 32 coupe roadster this afternoon to see what its fan looks like.

Turns out the 32 coupe roadster had a fan that matches mine.
