looks like Kanter will be reproducing the 55/56 gas tank for what seems to be the same price as sending your old one off to be fixed.

base price for a new one of 349. when the time comes and they have them...i'll buy it and not even bother with my old one.

thanks Kanter!

There have been rumors of Kanter doing a repro for a long time. Does your post mean they have been officially announced. If so, would think the tank itself should fit into more than V8's -- more like 51-6.

Not rumors, it's been an active project in the works for some time and I just heard from Fred that the pre-production samples were approved and the 51-56 gas tanks are expected in about a month. I don't know if just a the bare tank will be offered, what I had heard is it will be offered as a kit with new straps, sending unit, etc. I've had no discussion with Kanters about pricing, we'll have to wait for the details.

PS - just checked the most recent 55/56 catalog and indeed I see the prices that were noted by Cli55er in a previous post. The reason it says 55/56 is that it's in a 55/56 catalog - there are two different tank numbers in use between 51 and 54, one the same # as the 55/56. I don't know how the new unit will interchange with other 51-54 tank #.

edit-...edit....yeah, sorry about that. After I read your post I scrambled to check the new catalog. I had just chatted with Fred the other day about this project but hadn't bothered to check the new catalog.
