Vacuum Advance Interchangeability - Autolite

Hey all,

Thanks to all who contributed to the conversation about thermostats. Learned a ton from that.

Was curious about vacuum advance chambers and interchangeability. I sent my vacuum advance off my Autolite IGP-4502-B distributor to MM for rebuild service about six weeks ago... looking to just acquire another one at the moment.

There are several Autolite VAs listed on eBay at the moment, but they're all listed for later models than a model 2302-5. MM just lists the part number associated with the 54th series for 1948-1954 Autolite vacuum advance chambers. The parts book, on the other hand, lists numerous part numbers for advance chambers on each of the various distributors. The mounting appears to more or less be the same, but are there prohibitive differences between the various vacuum advances that would ultimately cause issues? Or are the vacuum advances for Autolite IGP/IGT distributors generally interchangeable '48-'54?

Of course, I'll also acknowledge that all the eBay advances are probably untested and contain their original diaphragms. Assessing that with the sellers... mainly curious about interchangeability at the moment. Thanks, all!

Many vacuum advance applications use the same basic unit and are differentiated for a particular use by the spring and shim package.
