Hi everyone
Nice to be a member of forum.

I am trying to get a project Packard, perhaps a custom eight victoria, or the custom version to restore. for some it may be a spares car, but i really would like to give it ago. My first choice, 1940, 41, 42 convertibles may be too expensive for me to buy.
Can anyone help?

Gary

Some advise from experienced members. 1948 cars with origional White wall tyres on. I guess are too old to keep. Are new White wall tyres easy to come by? And they expensive? And what size do they tend to be?

Hi Gary,
No problem obtaining tyres in the UK. Here are the 2 most popular companies.
North Hants tyres
1 Avondale Rd,
Fleet
Hants
GU 51 3FF
Tel. 01252 613261

And:- Vintage Tyre Supplies LTD
National Motor Museum
Beaulieu
Hants SO42 7ZN
Tel. (0044) 01590 612261

Tyres come in various makes and sizes in Whitewall or black
But they are NOT cheap. Just type in your search bar North hants tyres or Vintage tyre supplies and you will get into their sites.
I hope this helps
regards
Terry

Gary,

For tyre sizes go to Packard Model Info in the Main Menu, select the year or series, then the specific model. The information page that displays has basic information including tyre size.

I have never seen any porta-walls installed that fit properly and looked good. They remind me of a bad toupe. Looks good on paper and in the ads, but just doesn't carry off the desired look.

If you can find a set of port-a-walls that don't ripple or turn beige I'd be surprised. The best bet is a set of Diamondback tires for white walls.
