Gas Tank Float

I dropped the gas tank on my 53 Packard to clean and seal it. When I took the sending unit out I noticed the float has a small amount of liquid in it. It is solid with no leaks or holes etc, and it worked find. Was wondering if these floats were slightly weighted with a liquid when they were new..

No. Should be empty. If you need another, one poster said they are still available thru Ford dealers and here is another source. Brass Float

Restoration Supply also have one or more brass floats for gas tank sending units.
