I have a 54 patrician with a treadle vac power brake system. I've had it fail on me a couple of times. Had to pump the pedal to get it back. It hasn't been rebuilt and I was wondering what my best option is here. Is there a safer replacement
Thanks alot
Joe

There are multiple choices for a BTV "safer replacement". Here's the one I implemented:

http://www.1956packardpanther.com/Panther/powerbrakes.html

This setup has been on my 55 Pat for 9 years with no problems or failures.

Use the "Search" function as there are several other threads on this topic with other solutions.

You'll probably find more posts on this topic than you could read in a week, with strong feelings on both sides.

While we're waking sleeping dogs, go ahead and convert to 12v, replace the ultramatic with something, and switch to digital ignition.

Oh and put radials on.

Relax I was just asking what my best option would be. I should have used the search function first. Sorry again for that

Search on "BTV". Here is 29 pages worth:

https://packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=3867&forum=3&post_id=93019#forumpost93019

And that is about only 5% of what has been discussed and developed over ht elast 14 years covering 3 different websites that i know of..
