We have two Third Series Sedans. Both are registered as 1925, but one is an early and one is a late....they differ with many features.
Packard did not label them as 1925 or 1926. The early has 5 lug wheels, the late...6 lug, etc, etc, etc. Packard was evolving at that time. Both have different numbers on the frame vs engine...onlyone has a data plate which is also different. All I can say is....ENJOY your car and don't get too hung up on numbers like folks with '57 Chevys..... Bob and Gail

Many thanks for the prompt responses...
Our LeBaron has the modern Mopar slant 6 bearing (but the rods had to be built-up to accommodate for the thrust size) ...didn't know of the SIX had any 'upgrades'. Bob

Third Series SIX rod bearings

We have a Third Series Six Sedan.
The rod bearing babbit is very thin and needs to be replaced before it disintegrates and damages the crank. Does anyone out there know of a modern bearing replacement, or do I have to have new babbit poured? This engine was used in other Series, so I hope someone out there has some good words for me.....

Yes, it is a Franay and it is on a 1502 chassis.
It is interesting to note that it appears to have 1936 spoke wheels

I have never heard of anyone modifying a frame to fit a body.
I think you would be biting off a humongous project. I would seriously doubt that the rear fenders would interchange, but look into the Parts book. Yes, the front fenders and hood of all 1937 Super Eights are the same.

I have been communicating with the museum that has this car, and am awaiting details.
Will post info when I hear from my contact.

I fully understand the privacy aspect.
I have been the Roster-Keeper of the 1937 Super Eight and Twelve for some 42 years. I have data on 10 of the probable 39 that were made. I also have names of 8 other possible owners (or previous owners). I would be most appreciative if you would ask the owner to contact me, Bob Supina at <1937lebaron@gmail.com> For 43 years I have shared the database ONLY with one of the Senior members of PAC and CCCA who tracks existing Packards. Respectfully, Bob Supina

While I am unable to help in identifying the car pictured, I can affirm that the first car is either '35 or '36 by the front bumper vibration dampers and the front opening front door.
Stalin also had a '37 Twelve limousine, which has been on ebay a couple of times....not sure where it is right now, but its serial number is 1035-447. It was armor plated. Am not at liberty to divulge the last known owner online, but if appropriate individuals contact me, I will tell what I know. Send request to <1937lebaron@gmail.com> Bob
