I'll have to re-post later, but best as my memory serves me i have: 5647-l converted to 4-speed floor shift, 2 56 clippers that are "l" 1 56 clipper that is pb, converted to "l" for now. 1 56 400 that is pb. 1 56 pat parts car that is pb, 1 56 pat that is "l" my exec was pb, then converted it, then sold it. and my uncle's 56 pat that he recently sold was a pb. i'm also working on a modernized pb system for these cars.

not use'n them in this build. yes i have they are not quite right on the factory rods. however the aftermarket ones are made to customer specs, so width is not realy a problem.

hey jack and eric, i also work in an automotive machine shop. just fyi there is a pontiac aftermarket rod now available that is the same size on the big end as a pack, a little long, so it can be use with a shorter deck piston, and a lot stronger! I also agree with the custom piston idea. but then again i'm building a 374 with an isky cam oversized valves, headers, mallory ignition system, higer ratio adjustable rockers and dual afb's. humm guess i want my Packard to PREFORME!!!!!

p.s. yes it's fully balanced!

not ry'n to change subject here, but i also owned an Exc a few years ago. it had been repainted, but never "restored" Yet it DID NOT have chrome packard scripts, it had gold ones just like the true sr. cars. As for the location of the script on this car i believe it to be right where it was put factory. Packard was still about customer satisfaction if the company was in turmoil. So they would put that script where ever the customer wanted it! A very dear friend of mine has copies of several " nonstandard " templates for added trim and accessories. Think about the fact that all 3 clipper/exc hardtops use the same rear 1/4 panels (fenders) if the trim holes for the scrip were part of the stamping die, they would need at least 3 different dies for the same panel! No, the holes for that script were drilled and i believe they are exactly where the factory put them!
