When trying to filter out the crap, the minus '-' is your best friend.

So something like "Packard -antenna -hewlett -computer -printer -kelly -piano -shoes" as your search criteria. As you find new crap, just add another minus term.

The Southern California Chapter of Packards International sells the correct style and material of tubing. It's not to expensive either. Looks way better than the corrugated dryer vent stuff.

The engine Cast metal doesn't required any primer, but I would primer the any of the steel pieces. On the '54 engines I primed the timing cover, oil filler, etc.

From the PI Engine Judging Guide:

1955 Seniors - Ivory (Rockers Black with Ivory Letters, Chrome Optional)
1955 Clipper Deluxe and Super - Red (Rockers Blacks with Stick on "Clipper")
1955 Clipper Custom - Turquoise (Rockers Black with Stick on "Clipper")

1956 Senior - Bronze (Rockers Silver with Red Letters, Chrome Optional)
1956 Executive - Metallic Green (Rockers Silver with Red Letters)
1956 Clippers - Metallic Green (Rockers Silver with Red "Clipper" Letters)

Some 1955 Senior service replacement engines were accidentally painted Turquoise and equipped with Clipper rocker covers by the factory. Dealers were suggested to repaint the engines Ivory, and reuse the correct "Packard" valve covers from the old engine.

This only affects replacement engines. No cars left the factory with these incorrect engines installed.

Sorry I had to delete the article. I am sure the Hemming's Legal department would not be happy the posting of an article that just came out in their copyrighted Publication. Don't want the man coming down on me.

Never thought of looking there! Funny thing about that is that Jo-Ann Fabrics in my town is located right next door to Harbor Freight where I usually go looking for my odd-ball tools.

That is a good question. Perhaps the serial numbering started at the casting stage in those older blocks, instead of simply just being stamped after the fact as in later blocks.

The casting date changed everyday. It just a sets of die blocks that are used when the disposable casting mold is made.
