Well over the weekend I started the process of prepping the front frame clip and suspension for paint. Attached is the picture of the car after the first coat. There are still a few thin spots inside the frame and the suspension coils. But I will get those on the 2nd coat pass. I must tell you it was a pain in the royal butt to get everything masked.

After the paint is all dry, then I will pull all the suspension grease fittings, degrease, media blast, and rinse, and then let soak in parts cleaner to bring them back to working order. Some of them have petrified grease in them, so I found this is the best way to get the spring loaded check in them back in working order. So when done all the fittings should be nice and shiney, and visible against the black frame.

Here is the frame after the second coat, and all the masking removed. The transcooler, fan and pump pulley are off the engine as I wanted to repaint them as the Eastwood black looks alot better than the duplocolor color black I used on them last year.

The front half on the car is looking better and better. Now I can start running the new trans-cooler lines, front brake lines, and new fuel line.

Whine, whimper, whine. I wish mine was that far along and looked as good as yours. Your time line of two years may be a little pessimistic. Mine of next June is probably optimistic. There seems to be more and more homework and honeydo to take care of.

I hear ya on the Honey-Do's! It got back up to 102 today, so that kept out of the garage until the sun went down.

So I am going to let the frame paint cure for several days before I start doing any more around the front of the car. So I decided to start working on some of the parts that I took off the car to paint the frame.

So I hit the trans-lockout switch with some glass bead to remove all the rust and corosion. The linkage rod between the actual switch and the "doo-dad" that screws into the selector shaft is broken. The joints are basically fused where the linkage rod connects on both end. This is probably why the rod snapped. So I will try to make a new rod out of some thick wire rod, and verify that it is loose enough so it wont bind or fuse like the old one.

Also it looks like the "doo-dad" was rewelded at some point. It's looks pretty rough to be a piece that left the factory.

On a postive note, the swtich itself moves freely and you can feel it postively hit the internal contacts. I still need to put a multi-meter on it and check it to make sure everything is ok. I never realized that this swtich also doubled as the reverse light switch.

Thanks I appreciate that!

Just for comparison, here is a picture pretty early on. Here I had repainted the started and a few other pieces, But the engine, and frame are pretty much as I found the car. What a difference!
