here is another little nice package that came today.

I absolutely cannot stand the oak patterned peal and stick cabinet overlay on the dash. it was a crappy job that someone did too.

so I bought the correct burlwood pattern. it is from a vinyl wrap company called rvinyl, but I know I can do a way better job then they did. I also plan on coating it in clear coat to give a less plastic look. the pattern and color is respectable to what was original I think and it was only 15 bucks for a 12"x120" piece. plenty left over if I mess up.

its actually darker in person, but the light reflection makes it look lighter in the pic.

also the electronic pieces on the previous page are for making a runtz style 12v to 6v voltage regulator, but for WAY less money. This will allow my gas gauge to work again.

Hank, stroke of genius, vinyl wrap for wood graining. Most interested in how your efforts will turn out.

here are how the efforts turned out. not bad for my first try. one little defect by the lock where my finger nail took a small chunk off. brown marker and then I clear coated over the whole thing and I think it turned out great! way better then the crap they had on there before.

the back side will be painted black and the edge of the vinyl sealed to keep it from pealing on its own.

you can also see where my Grandfather had burlwood painted it before they wire brushed it all off and put that junk oak pattern on it. sorry Grandpa....I'm slowly bringing it back.

there are some air bubbles I will need to take a small pin to and push the air out, otherwise its good enough for me.

very last picture is a reminder of how it looks with the oak pattern.

one last question...is the paint scheme on the chrome pieces correct?

Henry, I think your grandfather would be most pleased with your work.

That looks very nice. Think I am going to have to get some of that and play with it.

thanks guys, it was my very first time using any kind of wrap. if I had more experience there would be less air bubbles I'm sure, but its good enough for me and honestly for 15 bucks.....can't turn that down. could have been less if I hadn't bought so much of the material.

here is the link to the company that I bought the wrap from. I got if from their ebay store though because the shipping was free. 14.99 for a 12" x 120" roll. tons left over.

here is what the back of the panel looks like after painting it and clearing it. I tried to spray more clear around the edges to kinda seal the wrap down. I used painters tape to mask off the line. worked out well.

Henry,
That looks good.
It looks much richer than the other pattern.

Does the parts books give you an idea on the paint color on the chrome?

Is the vinyl flexible and stretchy enough to wrap around the window garnish moldings -- or at least the straight portion the arm rests on that usually suffers the most damage.
