This guy wants $9000 for a non-running 53? Am I correct in thinking that's crazy?

Well, he says he will get it running soon. Maybe if he throws what appears to be a convertible sitting next to the car into the deal it would be worth the price. I think he is confused in other areas too. The ebay heading says east coast but last time I looked L.A. was on the west coast. Maybe that 9K is for east coast buyers only.

Bryce,
My experience is that the majority of Packard sellers think they are worth much more than actual market value. JMO.

Here is a straight, solid & complete appearing 55 Clipper HT.
The seller sent a couple of photos, it is too much for me at this time but a great builder. 2-3K car max?

Thanks for the clarification, I need to get better with valuations!

The 55 Clipper is about 10 minutes away from me. If only I had the space!

Here is a 53 "cliper" 2 door that runs and drives.

I was looking at other Craigslist ads, yes, its Studebaker and I found this ad. Was this built when Packard and Stude combined? Doesn't this have a Packard engine and trans?
Just wondering. I kind of like the body style.

That would be all Stude.

The 1957 and 1958 "Packards" were pretty much rebadged Studebakers with just some trim differences. They used Stude engines and Trannys.

Only some of the Hawks (1956?) used Packard running gear.

Hi

Scam alert, this '53 Clipper posted on here:
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/cto/5457612977.html

Shows up in this eBay listing, right down to the pictures, note the gauge stuck in the dash next to the key:

Here's a real bargain for a good price, great starting place, '54 Clipper Deluxe sedan, even the taillight lens are intact!:
