That thought crossed my mind when I did the line, but it seemed consistent with the routing I saw on others. As for the covering. I suspect the "cotton" cover you refer to might have been asbestos. The only thing I know of that might rival or work is the fiberglass insulation used on race car headers. I would be interested in further response and information.

Very nice work, it looks great.

One question, is the brass block mounted to the master cylinder behind the brake light switch a way of creating separate front and rear brake systems? I see what appears to a line running forward and a line running to the rear.

The brass block was on the old master cylinder that came off and is the "t" block for the lines since the cylinder only has one outlet. Based on the fact I think the lines were original to the car, I suspect this is correct. Otherwise is is a single system, not dual or split.

I am admiring your parallel plumbing of an electric fuel pump.

I saw a car (I believe it was a '38 Eight) with a similar carburetor fuel inlet design at the Packard clubs' meet in Salado this year. The owner re-routed the fuel line in order to keep it as far away from the exhaust manifold as possible. He did this by routing the fuel line over the top of the front of the carburetor. It has some tight bends but with the right elbows and nipples works well. The fuel line will fit between the bottom of the air cleaner and top of carburetor. Just a suggestion.

Work is now underway on the wood frame under the cab. The joys of measuring a 74 year old wooden frame that has delaminated and rotted!
