Packard got a baby brother this week. Finally arrived from Pittsburgh. It brought a few packard parts with it. Paint for the dash gauges and a new patch panel for the right front fender....Shouldn't be too much of a distraction since it is already restored. A few days to clean things up and change to euro specs, then back to the packard...Working on this car I either have to sit or lie on the floor, it is so small and low compared to a packard...
Electrical on the packard is finished to the back of the car. Front of the car is also laid out, just need to wrap the harness and do the last of the terminals, then electric is done.

Congratulations on the Targa. Does it have the zipper rear window?

Thanks JW. Yes, it is a "soft targa" my uncle Special orderd it in 1969. they are quite rare and 69 was (I think) the last year for The zipper rear window. Also has 5 dials (some had 3) and 5 speed tranny. Shift pattern has 1st gear down and to The left! That takes some getting used to! Its my tangerine dream.

It's been quite a while, been getting the Porsche ship shape and reliable. Finally got the harness in the packard and was able to test most circuits. Still have to wire in the front turn signals, hazards and parking lights, but I am excited to see some Life in the packard! Might fire things up this weekend if I feel adventerous!
Should my OD relay make a slight click when I turn on the ignition switch?!

Cooling system got filled up this weekend, and aside from one leak at the hose that goes from the head to the heater core, everything was tight. Drained the system, cut 1.5 inches off the hose at the head and re-attached. After that the water was staying inside on all joints...Have to attach the fuel pump flex hose and put fuel in the car. I am almost getting stage fright before engine starting... Porsche left me stranded 5 blocks from home when a pin fell out of the clutch pedal... Was able to fix it, but was quite a surprise Old cars keep you on you sharp!

Looking very good. Overdrive relay should be silent unless the overdrive is ready to engage. Look for a ground in the circuit that goes from the relay to the kickdown switch to the lockout switch to the governor. There should not be any grounds in that circuit unless the car is at overdrive speed and the governor provides it. Oh, and if your governor has two wires, switch to the other wire which should be open at rest.

Thanks Ross,
Here is a pic of the relay I got from herm the overdrive guy. I have the feed coming from my ignition switch going to the "switch" terminal, "batt" is constant hot from the starter, "load" goes down to the OD, and I guess "grd" goes to kickdown and then to OD....I'll check the wires that provide the ground to make sure I connected things properly. I think my Relay is wired correctly.
I was testing my electric with a battery charger that you can see on the front apron....It only provides a few amps, and has a circuit breaker so if something was badly wired, I wouldn't make too much damage like a fully charged battery could.

Oh yeah!!!! The kickdown switch was grounding a Terminal to the holder. I turned the terminal 90 deg or so, and now the OD relay seems fine. We had to prime The carb with gas, but she ran for a few minutes today for the first time in years. Need to time, tune and check a fuel leak at the pump, but things are sounding good!!!!! Here is a pic of the kickdown switch after I turned one contact, and coated things with plasti dip. I'll try and get a little Video soon!
Crazy, after all this time, it actually runs!

Engine ran for a few minutes! Hope things continue in this direction. Still need to set timing, tune carb and polarize generator. It is starting to be more like a car than a construction site!

You really should polarize the generator before starting the car.
