Hi Guscha

Interesting, if frigid-looking, Packard. It appears to be a '26 326 five passenger sedan-limousine, the sliding partition window visible through the open door. Note also the elegant curtains in the rear compartment windows for privacy. Unseen but certainly in place was one of the floor registers that recovered exhaust heat as well as a South Wind gas-fired heaters to make winter driving tolerable.

The wedding party's '36 Eight sedan could be the basic 1400 or the 5/7 passenger 1401/ 1402, models popular with livery operations. The bald winter tire side-mount suggest the scarcity of the immediate postwar years.

Moving to 1949 finds the livery company in improved condition. From right to left are a '39 '38 120 with side mount, a new 1949 Chevrolet, a 1936 Buick 90 Limited judging by the length of the visible roof, a '37 Terraplane, likely a Big Boy 5/7 passenger sedan, a commercial model built specifically for the purpose. The last is a guess, possibly an Opel. It will have to be positively identified by those familiar with European cars.

By the nice shiny paint and clean appearance, plus appropriately attired chauffeurs, this was a successful livery company that had prospered. The single additional driving lights are very European.

Looks like a '38 Eight(120) because of the trim strip in the centre of the roof.

I found out, that the bride has what it takes to be an successful steeplechaser.

Hi Guscha

Interesting '39 Super 8 1705, in the closer look below one can see the model-specific headlight lens, headlight bucket spear and hood side vents. Oddly enough, it doesn't have the alternately painted radiator shutter bars characteristic of the model. Guesses are it was either a Body No. 1270 limousine or 1271 seven passenger sedan. The absence of side-mounts is curious as well. Two '49-'50 Fords are following.

Steve (58L8134), I missed the alternately painted radiator shutter bars as well.
For decades the Packard plant lies in ashes but their products are part of the national memory in Finland until today.

BDC, well spotted! It is up for sale at souvenir shops. A less sophisticated car that was made in my home country has got the same privilege.

That looks like a skoda. If you take a skoda today and you scratch off the emblem you see that is says "VW".

Correct that, I think it's a Trabant! 30 years since the fall of the wall!
