Nice article but too bad the author did not specify years as some models are different. For example, 55-6 senior models had orange instead of red primaries and Clippers used the same blue springs for both shoes. No idea how much if any differences the other colors might signify. On some full brake overhaul kits with shoes that Kanter supplied their provided springs were both grey.

It's great to see you getting close to hitting your goal. Lots of work, and it shows.

Nice work on the engine rebuild. A freshly painted engine is always nice to look at. Car looks great overall. I love the coupes and the maroon color is classy.

Personally I disagree. The tag looks to be lacquered over and the lacquer also appears to be worn out.

Following the older postings on brakes on this thread...

Here is a brake spring installation tech note I picked up along the way.

It really properly describes spring colors, lengths and inferred stiffer on the primary (forwardmost) shoe.

The tag on the desk is interesting. I was given this one some years ago by a co-worker who said it came from a locker in the Philadelphia Packard Distributorship. Now I'm wondering if what I was told is wrong or did someone create an inauthentic piece of antique furniture to increase the value of the desk.

I can't say for certain but I can see it being off a locker. Every company I have ever worked for attaches a similar tag to assets for two main reasons - deters theft and for asset tracking for accounting. These tags help identify assets during inventory cycle counts and audits. Most companies use a prefix to denote a certain asset class. Packard may have used "Z" for "Office Furniture", which a locker would probably be listed. Office furniture has its own depreciation schedule for tax purposes, why this is done. Also note, these tags are usually nothing special in terms of showing provenance of origin.. these get changed in format all the time by companies.. probably both real.

I can't really answer for the original poster but, as this thread started about 10 years ago, it's unlikely.
